In this fraud alert, "eRiver" represents a genuine online auction company.

The email with subject "Your account on eRiver" is a fraudulent message because of the reasons below:

  1. A genuine eRiver domain has IP addresses in the form of 66.135.c.d, depending on whether it is www.eriver.com, scgi.eriver.com, or pages.eriver.com. However, the link in that message would go to 61.98.70.208, which is NOT hosted under eRiver domain.

  2. A verification page is already available at the genuine eRiver website.
